The American Gothic Theatre Arts Festival was inspired by our current political climate and notions of identity. The painting American Gothic by Grant Wood 1930, depicted life as it was for many Americans at the time, rural and conservative. But what does it mean to be American now in the 21st century? With our political, social and economic climate more tense than ever it is imperative to ask this question to an audience of artists across all mediums and to build a stage for their responses. Featuring new short plays, musical works and visual art. Stand with us as we examine who we are and our place in American history in answering the question, “What does it mean to be an American, today?” with AMERICAN GOTHIC.
